Located on the continental divide between Lake Gloria and Lake Magog. on the border of Banff & Assiniboine parks, Alberta/BC border. Major headwaters Bow & Kootenay rivers.

Named in 1918. The mountain was though to resemble a turtle although it may have been applied to Terrapin Lake prior to being attached to the mountain. Official name.

First ascended in 1915 by H.O. Frind, L. Jeffers, guided by Conrad Kain.
