Sentry Mountain is the northernmost peak of the Flathead Range. It was formerly named Sentinel Mountain but was renamed in 1915 to avoid confusion with other another peak named Sentinel which lies at the headwaters of Willow Creek west of Nanton. Presumably, Sentry Mountain keeps watch over the traffic through the Crowsnest Pass which lies just to the north of it.

Note that Sentry Peak is part of a trio of peaks known as The Goodsirs.

Scrambling Routes
Moderate scrambling via west ridge; minimal exposure. Diminutive Sentry Mountain guards over the windy gap of Crowsnest Pass, where blustery west winds whip the waters of Crowsnest Lake into a maelstrom of whitecaps. This ascent is largely a nontechnical ridge walk that becomes more interesting near the top. Good views throughout. Kane, Scrambles in the Canadian Rockies page 54
