Sherman Parrish was the first settler in the Crowsnest Pass area. In 1898 he homesteaded at the foot of the mountain which now bears his name and began raising cattle. A big man with very large hands, Sherman Parrish was also a keen student, an artist, and an inventor. One of his hobbies was making model steam engines which really worked.
