This most appropriately named feature should not be confused with Beehive Mountain in the Oldman River Valley.

J. Willoughby Astley, who named The Beehive, was the manager of the first "chateau" on the shores of Lake Louise from 1890 until 1894. Samuel Allen made the first recorded ascent in 1891.
