Named by Earl of Southesk (James Carnegie) in 1859. Ramsay, James Andrew Broun, (Tenth Earl of Dalhousie) (James Ramsay was Secretary for War during the Crimean War and the son of the Governor General of Canada.) Official name.

First ascended in 1928 by Morrison P. Bridgland
