Named by Katie Gardner and Party in 1933. The peak was referred to by its elevation Unofficial name.

First ascended in 1933 by Katie Gardner, Ken Jones, guided by Walter Feuz. Journal reference CAJ 22-92.

Foster Peak, Mount 10240, and Mount 10060 are three striking peaks at the head of Numa Creek. Foster Peak and Mount 10240 were first climbed by Walter Feuz, Katie Gardner, and a "boy" named Ken Jones who went on to become the first Canadian-born guide in the Canadian Rockies.
