McBride Peak

Located in the Fraser River Valley east of the head of Sunbeam Creek; overlooks (5 km northeast of the town) the Town of McBride. Park, Major headwater Fraser River.

Naming: The mountain takes its name from the Town of McBride which it overlooks. The town takes its name from Sir Richard McBride who in 1903, at the age of 33, became the youngest premier of British Columbia. Official name.

Other Information

A forest fire lookout was built high on the upper slopes of McBride Peak in the 1920's. It operated until the early 1960's.
