Trolltinder Mountain

Named by Jean Habel in 1897. The mountain was thought to resemble Mount Trolltinder, one of the highest peaks in Norway. Official name.

First ascended in 1901 by James Outram, Edward Whymper, guided by C. Kaufmann, C. Klucker, J. Pollinger. Journal reference CAJ 2-221.

According to legend, the mountain in Norway after which this peak was named has stone pillars along its top that were formed when "evil magic" was rendered to a wedding party.
