Named for: Moss Campion is an alpine plant featuring numerous small pink flowers on a bulbous, moss like plant.
"Still higher up were several kinds of flowering mosses: the pink (moss campion), the white, and the yellow." Arthur O. Wheeler wrote this after climbing to the summit of Campion Mountain.
Note that there is a Mount Campion in the Alberta Rockies but it's not named after the plant. Cpl. George Campion was killed in action during WW II.
