Named by Morrison P. Bridgland in 1956. Loudon, William James (A professor of mechanics at the University of Toronto, William Loudon wrote on a variety of subjects.) Official name.

William James Loudon

(1841-1916)

In his biography, "Mapper of Mountains," Morrison Bridgland is quoted as saying that, "It was due to Prof. Loudon that I came west." Bridgland would have come to have known Professor Loudon while a student at the University of Toronto.
